J Red Horse

Native American Tribal Member of the Northern Blackfeet.

51 years old, Married, 5 children, 8 Grandchildren.

Resides in NH.

Retired EMT.

All my traditional skills are intact thanks to a Mother and Grandmother who knew it was important that I grow up with our traditional ways and skills intact.

I can make my own weapons, deer skin clothing, shelter and can hunt for food when nessassary, we try and teach each generation the skills that have served us so well.

I'm not a "Angery Indian" who carries a chip on his shoulder over what happened between the Great Native Nations and the US Government.

I spend my time doing public lectures on our way of life and have recieved two "Silver Arrow Awards" for my contributions to Native American Music in 2003-2004.

I play the flutes for 29 different tribes and have had the joy of headlinning Native concerts for over a decade through out New England.

I have been married to a great woman who is from the MiqMaq Nation in New England for 22 years and she is the root of my soul.

I have other strange hobbies that include;

Brain tanning the hides of our hunted food (The brains of the animal have an enzime that preserves the hide) so that we can make clothing out of it.

I am an archer who makes his own bows and arrows and can put an arrow anywhere I aim.

I enjoy working on and looking at classic cars, love old car shows in the North East.

I enjoy target shooting with my brother and my son in law very much and I'm efficiant with both long gun and pistol.

I love and enjoy spending time with my Jack Russell Terrorist named Jacky, she is a great dog and a good hunter as well.

A lot of my time is spent in Churches of all different denominations giving lectures on Native American Spirituality, they are always enlightened by the time I finish.

My Grandmother commented on my tracking skills the day I had to track a neighbors wayward dog in the rain and located him 2 miles from his home in the woods.

She said  "Grandson, you could track a ghost through smoke" that was her way of saying that I had learned well.

Some of my Hub stories will be about the Native way of life but not all because I was raised in two cultures, the Anglo way and the Native way so my stories will be from my experiences living in both worlds.

Thank you for taking a moment to get to know a little about me and hope you enjoy some of my writtings.
